"Written in 2005, this march corresponds to a period of my life where, critically ill, I lived with the idea that I could die soon.

 

The composition of this Piece was a fantastic driving force to surpass the violence of medical treatments and to their generated suffering that I had to face.

 

I never imagined this march as my funeral music. On the contrary, I used it to get rid of all morbid ideas that  can rise in such situations. I did not do that as a submissive resolution, but rather as an internal rebellion and fight  that sent up unsuspected strengths.

 

The title evokes solitude, self-confrontation as well as hope, knowledge and trust search. Orient is symbolically the source of light. This Light illuminates us, guides us and sometimes holds us onto life." - Gilles ARCENS
