Thierry THIBAULT

Tuba player and founder of Epsilon Brass Ensemble, Thierry Thibault obtained with this group two chamber music international prizes (Narbonne in 1988 and Osaka in 1993), and recorded several CDs, among which The Bet!, Sémaphore and Epsibop, available at FLEX Editions. He held several concerts  in Europe, Japon, USA, Africa and South America.

He played as a soloist  with several  orchestras, among others Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine de Paris, Orchestre Régional du Limousin, Orchestre de Bretagne, Orchestre de chambre d’Auvergne, Orchestre de Picardie and Orchestre de la Flotte de Brest.

Beyond this, Thierry Thibault is the co-Artistic Director since 1995, together with Epsilon Brass Ensemble, of the « Cuivres en Fête » festival and of « Epsival » music academy of Limoges, which bring together during the second half of August brass and percussions « stars » coming from the entire World. He is the Tuba teacher of the « Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional » in Rennes and of Saint Malo's Music School, in France. He was a teacher of Caracas Conservatoire (Venezuela) from 2001 to 2003.

Member of Sacem as composer, arranger and improviser, more than fifty of his Pieces are published by FLEX Editions (find all his Pieces here), Brass International Music, Ed. Billaudot, Ed. Robert Martin, Feeling Musique Ed. and Jonaphil. His educational Pieces are broadly used in french conservatories and his concert Pieces are played regularly by leading musicians.

The important part that he dedicates to orality and improvisation in his teaching for several years lead him to develop an efficient methodology that completes succesfully the regular classical training of musicians of all levels and ages. He presents regularly this innovative work during seminars for music teachers.

Conductor, he is specialist of wind bands, brass ensembles and brass-band. He is regularly involved in working and training sessions together with various orchestras in France. He conducts the brass and percussions ensemble of Saint Malo, called « Wonder Brass », since 1999.
